Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (Oct. 18, 2021) – David Gravel is closing in on his career-best season in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship standings.

The Big Game Motorsports driver ranks second in the standings – only 92 points out of the lead – with five races remaining, including the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown this Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.

“We’ve had a good season and we’re looking to close it out on a strong note,” said Gravel, who has finished third in the World of Outlaws standings four times in his career. “I’d like to get another win or two before the season ends and I think we have a good opportunity this Friday. Our program on big tracks has been great most of the year.”

Gravel is seeking his first career victory at Lakeside Speedway. However, he’s produced numerous top-10 performances at the 4/10-mile oval.

Gravel hustled from 17th to sixth during his most recent visit a year ago. He placed seventh at the track in 2019, 14th the previous season, seventh in 2017, 21st in 2016, ninth in 2015, 10th in 2014 and 13th during his debut in 2013.

“Lakeside is a bigger track that is very fast,” he said. “It races similar to a lot of half miles. I’ve had good speed in the various cars I’ve raced at Lakeside, but some misfortune ended a couple of chances at a podium. I have a lot of confidence in our team rolling into Lakeside. We’ve been consistent in qualifying this year so if we can put down a good lap that will set us up for a strong night.”
