Inside Line Promotions – EL PASO, Texas (Feb. 12, 2018) – Two of the region’s top professional music groups are collaborating for one marquee event in less that one month.
The El Paso Chamber Orchestra and Bella Voce are joining forces on Saturday, March 3, for a performance titled Gabriel Faure’s Requiem. The full orchestra concert, which is hosted at Loretto Chapel, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Adult tickets are only $10 and tickets for children and students are $5 apiece.
This spectacle will be the first time the two groups have teamed up. It’s a special moment for the El Paso Chamber Orchestra, which is made up of an orchestra featuring 15-to-20 members and a 16-person choir, to share the stage with Bella Voce, which is a 16-piece professional choir based out of Las Cruces, N.M., and is under the direction of Dr. Jerry Ann Alt.
“Our mission is two-fold,” El Paso Chamber Orchestra Founder and Director Rene Castaneda said. “One is to present music, have concerts and preserve music in El Paso. The second is to help people in El Paso who don’t have a place to play.”
The non-profit group is made up of various men and women from the community who have a passion for music.
“It’s a range of ages from college to adults,” said Castaneda, who is a professor at El Paso Community College. “Many of them are educators. We have a veterinarian and a doctor.
“It’s an outlet for these people. My first intention was to create a professional group. Now I’m focusing on people who are very talented and giving them a place to play, where they can play professional work in a professional environment.”
The performance next month will be the third overall for the El Paso Chamber Orchestra with more in the works.
“I want to present seasonal performances, at least two per year under a professional setting,” Castaneda said. “This is one of many future collaborations with other professional organizations as well.”
There are even discussions of a European performance in a couple of years, but for now Castaneda and his talented group of musicians will continue to focus on community concerts.
“This is great to have two talented groups like El Paso Chamber Orchestra and Bella Voce come together for a big event,” he said. “We are thrilled for the opportunity to entertain our community.”
