Longdale Speedway Hosting Huge Two-Day Event Featuring Top Gun Series and Fireworks

Inside Line Promotions – LONGDALE, Okla. (June 28, 2017) – Longdale Speedway will host one of its biggest events of the year as it presents its 4th annual America Proud 4th of July Celebration this Saturday and Sunday. A full racing program will be held each night with a huge fireworks display as part of Sunday night’s event.

“This is a big event for us, one that we always look forward to,” Longdale Speedway General Manager Greg Burgess said. “We look forward to honoring our troops and celebrating our independence. It’s a weekend for families spending time together, hopefully at the track either in the grandstand or in the pit area.”

The two-day event will mark the second and third nights of racing for the track’s Top Gun Series, which features a large amount of added prize money for all four classes. Drivers in the IMCA modifieds, IMCA sport mods, IMCA stock cars and pure stocks will also be vying for a share of the point fund purse for the five-race series, which concludes in October.

A large field of top cars is expected with the most recent Top Gun Series race drawing almost 80 cars among the four classes.

“We’re looking forward to a good car count,” Burgess said. “I’ve heard of cars coming from as far away as Arizona.”

Jimmy Reeves of Great Bend, Kan., currently leads the Top Gun Series point race for the modifieds over Mike Petersillie of Hoisington, Kan., and Tanner Black. Angel Munoz of Lamar, Colo., sits atop the stock car points followed by Jason Rogers of Selden, Kan., and Paul Pfeifer of Hill City, Kan. Robert Elliott of Clinton leads the sport mod points over Joe Adams of Drummund and Mike Roach of Woodward while the pure stocks are led by Tyler Scruggs of Hennessey with Marvin Allen and Steve Blunk, both of Enid, ranking second and third, respectively.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. each night this weekend. Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and military with children ages 12 and younger admitted free.
