Hallstrom Motorsports Expands Driver Development Program

Inside Line Promotions – NORTHFIELD, Vt. (June 14, 2017) – Hallstrom Motorsports has expanded its driver development program, giving the opportunity to drivers for both an ACT late model and PASS late model.

Three years ago, Louie and Lisa Hallstrom began their driver development program in hopes of diminishing the age gap and to give drivers the opportunity to race in different late model series in the Northeast.

“We wanted to do our part to keep racing strong and thriving in the northeast,” Lisa Hallstrom said. “There was such an age gap in the drivers and it seemed like we had almost missed a generation. We felt like getting more youth involved was the answer.”

In the first year that the driver development program was in operation, Hallstrom Motorsports fielded a car in the American-Canadian Tour with Devin O’Connell as the driver. The team won the Rookie of the Year Award as O’Connell was in his first season racing a full-body race car. Since then, Hallstrom Motorsports has worked diligently on expanding their driver development program to field another car in the PASS Series. They achieved that goal in 2017.

“There’s a lot of kids that have the opportunity and are able to race down south,” Lisa Hallstrom said. “The kids in the Northeast really don’t get that much of an opportunity as down south due to the lack of tracks and age restrictions here. So we’re trying to break the mold and trying to give kids the opportunity here in the Northeast so that their families didn't have to relocate to get the experience.”

Drivers who are interested in the driver development program have the choice of racing either an ACT late model or PASS super late model.

“It’s important to know that this is a professional driver development program,” Lisa Hallstrom said. “We work on everything from driving ability to communication to working with a crew chief and a team.”

If interested in the program, driver applications must be sent in along with a driver résumé. After the résumé is reviewed, a driver interview will then be conducted in order to determine if the program and driver would be a good fit.

Driver applications can be sent in to Lisa at contact@hallstrom-motorsports.com.

Additionally, Hallstrom Motorsports will be announcing its summer test date soon. The team is also able to offer a winter test date as well in North Carolina with the date to be determined and announced at a later time.
