Inside Line Promotions – LONGDALE, Okla. (Oct. 26, 2016) – Longdale Speedway is stepping outside the box in 2017.
The 3/8-mile clay oval will run a series within a series for its regular classes next season. The Longdale Speedway Racing Series will be the track’s championship series and it will continue to operate under the IMCA point average format.
However, Longdale Speedway is introducing the Top Gun Series, which will use a draw and redraw format for its races. The Top Gun Series events will consist of a majority of the track’s marquee events.
“This will give Longdale racers a chance at two championships each year,” Longdale Speedway General Manager Greg Burgess said. “It will give regional racers a chance at a Longdale championship without committing to the entire season. For those racers who are able to travel and run the bigger shows it gives them a reason to run more than they would have maybe planned to run at Longdale with just running the premier shows individually. Also, the fans will look forward to Top Gun Series events knowing they can see more cars, more competition and special series souvenirs.”
The Top Gun Series will encompass the pure stock, IMCA sport mod, IMCA stock car and IMCA modified classes.
Stay tuned for additional details throughout the offseason.
