Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 20, 2016) – A lot of people don’t like change. For Patrick Dills, change was needed to instill confidence in himself and his team.

Following struggles with an older car during the Western Sprint Tour Speedweek earlier this month, Dills and his crew assembled a new Eagle Motorsports Inc. chassis for his 360ci sprint car operation. He hit Cottage Grove Speedway with the new machine last Saturday.

“Right out of the gate we were fastest in hot laps,” he said. “With the old car we struggled to find left rear drive. With this car we didn’t make big enough changes, but we know what it likes now.”

Dills, who qualified seventh quickest and won a heat race, started the feature sixth. He drove up to third place before a red flag. On the restart he fell back to fourth before a caution. When the green flew something got into the right rear tire bleeder and it began losing air pressure.

“Then the rocker went bad in the motor the last few laps and we finished sixth,” he said. “But this car is good. I’ve never had a new car and this one drove like a Cadillac.

“I can’t thank my guys enough for all their hard work after Speedweek, going down to California and picking up this car, dropping it off with Jack Waddell and Double R Powder Coating … he busted it out in a day. Also thanks to Sarah and Jesse Bonnichsen for painting the body panels in a day.”

For the next three weeks Dills will be competing in the Extreme Sprints class at Cottage Grove Speedway starting this Saturday. Dills, the defending Extreme Sprints champion at Cottage Grove Speedway, currently leads the track points. He is also sixth in the track’s 360 sprint car standings.
