Inside Line Promotions – HARTFORD, Ohio (June 22, 2016) – Caleb Helms has had several bright moments throughout the first half of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Speedweek.

Helms qualified in the top five twice and he made the dash during each of the first three rounds of the eight-race spectacle.

“Whether we were good or in good positions and taking advantage, we capitalized on what we had,” he said. “When we got into the feature whatever we’ve been missing showed up. I feel like we’re a lot better than that. We just haven’t put it all together.”

Ohio Speedweek kicked off last Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, where Helms qualified second quickest, placed fourth in a heat race and won the dash. That lined him up on the pole for the main event, which he led the first lap of before ending 12th.

“We were really, really good in the dash,” he said. “I was starting to feel it be a little loose coming off the corners. We changed the left rear tire and some other things for the main event and we couldn’t rotate the corner very well.”

A lack of comfort and drive hampered Helms the following two nights. He timed in 11th quickest and finished second in a heat race and fifth in the dash at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on Saturday before pulling off early in the main event.

Helms qualified fourth quickest before scoring a runner-up result in a heat race and an eighth-place finish in the dash on Sunday at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio. However, he faded to a 20th-place result in the feature.

“We had speed early on, but as the track went away we struggled to dial it in,” he said.

Helms returned to action on Monday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, where he timed in 13th quickest overall, but ninth in his group. He ended ninth in a heat race and third in the B Main to transfer into the back of the main event. Unfortunately, he was involved in an early crash that resulted in a flip and a 23rd-place result.

Sharon Speedway hosted Ohio Speedweek Round 5 on Tuesday with Helms qualifying 35th quickest before he placed sixth in a heat race and 15th in the B Main. The team was forced to use a provisional to start last in the feature.

“We were pretty good and moved forward in the main event,” he said. “I think we made some big gains at the end of the night, which was a nice change of pace from how the start of Ohio Speedweek had gone.”

Helms rallied from 25th to a 17th-place result.

Ohio Speedweek resumes on Wednesday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, before races on Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, and Saturday at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
