Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (April 28, 2016) – Joe Trenca is pleased with the progress his Mucci Motorsports race team has showcased this season.

Trenca advanced into his first career main event at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., last Friday, where he then charged from 22nd to a 15th-place result.

“That track just takes time to get better,” he said. “We’re just focusing on turning laps and learning as much as we can.”

Trenca opened the night by qualifying 22nd quickest. He then finished where he started – eighth – in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the 11th row for the main event.

“We didn’t have the greatest qualifying result and the track wasn’t conducive to a lot of passing early,” he said. “We threw something at it for the feature and it worked. Our focus was more about seat time. We spent all 30 laps learning and passing some cars. I felt like some cars were slowing down and we were getting faster as the race went on.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, where a high number during the pill draw put Trenca behind the eight ball for the remainder of the night.

“We started last in the heat race and I couldn’t really do anything,” he said. “I started at the back in the B Main and it was tough to move forward.”

Trenca finished where he started – 10th – in a heat race before he rallied from 10th to seventh in the consolation race, which was only one spot out of earning the final transfer into the main event.

“That was frustrating that we couldn’t make the main event,” he said. “It’s always tough racing there and when the pill draw puts you behind it makes it that much more challenging.”

Trenca will return to action this Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa.
