Inside Line Promotions – EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada (Sept. 1, 2015) – Trey Starks opened the 9th annual Oil City Cup last weekend by registering his career-best World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series result.

Starks scored a ninth-place finish on Friday with the premier sprint car series at Castrol Raceway, which was his first Outlaws top 10 since 2013.

“It was a really good weekend,” he said. “To be looking at two top 10s with the Outlaws is really good. I was really happy with the way we ran.”

Starks, who drove for Doug Rutz, kicked off the weekend on Friday by qualifying 12th quickest. He then finished fourth in a heat race, which locked him into the 12th starting position for the main event.

“We were just solid in the main,” he said. “We were really good on restarts and would pick off cars each time. We were as high as seventh and we ended up finishing ninth. That was a good one to come home with. The track was just awesome. It was the most fun I’ve had in a while.”

Starks continued the momentum on Saturday when he qualified 14th quickest and finished fifth in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the feature.

“Before the main they reworked the track so it was entirely different,” he said. “We were running really good and were up to seventh at one point. We had a restart with 15 laps to go and after that the car started to go away. We started dropping back. We were in the top 10, but were really hanging on to it. Then we had a driveline failure while we were running around 10th with four laps to go.”

Starks was unable to finish the race and he was credited with a 21st-place result.

He is scheduled for a busy weekend at Skagit Speedway, where he will compete on Thursday with the Summer Thunder Sprint Series and in the sportsman class for Rutz. Starks will then race on Friday and Saturday at the high-banked track with the World of Outlaws.
