Inside Line Promotions – SUNNYVALE, Texas (March 25, 2015) – Sam Hafertepe Jr. is searching for his first victory of the season this weekend when he invades the ASCS Gulf South Region’s season-opening doubleheader.

Hafertepe Jr. will compete on Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, and on Saturday at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.

“Our goal is to win both nights,” he said. “First we have to put ourselves in contention to win and that means putting together a good heat race each night. Then if we can make the redraw for the feature we will have a shot.”

Hafertepe Jr. finished fourth during his only race at Golden Triangle Raceway Park last season. He also placed second at the track in 2013 and visited Victory Lane there in 2011.

“Golden Triangle is a smaller, bullring type of track,” he said. “You have to be up on the wheel the entire race. If the track is racy it’s a fun place because you’re always around other cars and constantly working to make a pass.”

He also scored podium finishes during both races at Battleground Speedway last year.

“Battleground is more of a speed track,” he said. “Your car has to have a good setup and you have to make smart decisions if you want to be in contention for a win. If we can put ourselves in the ball park and have a little luck we’ll be challenging for the win at both Golden Triangle and Battleground this weekend.”
