Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation Seeking Sponsors to Help Christopher’s Dream

Inside Line Promotions – ARLINGTON, Wash. (Dec. 1, 2014) – Christopher Lindor isn’t the typical 8-year-old.

While most children change their dream about as quickly as they turn a clean shirt dirty, Christopher has maintained an eagle-eye focus on his fantasy to race a quarter midget.

However, Christopher’s story isn’t about whether his parents will give him the go ahead to compete. He needed approval from a doctor to begin a racing journey that has limited him to the sidelines in large part because of Spina Bifida, which is a birth defect that will affect Christopher for the remainder of his life.

“His spinal cord didn’t close all the way when he was in the womb,” his mother, Amy, said during an interview in 2012. “He is on a ventilator to breathe. Many of his problems he had because of his birth defect were problems with his brain stem, so he can’t swallow or breathe very well on his own. But his intelligence is completely unaffected. He’s as sharp as a little tack.”

Christopher, whose birthday was Nov. 20, has been a part of the Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation for the past few years. He’s been to dirt track races and even received a unique trip to Las Vegas to watch NASCAR and World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events.

Approximately a year ago the process began to see if Christopher could climb inside a specially designed quarter midget. After a few hours of research and getting the approval from a doctor – assuming all of the safety procedures are followed – the dream came alive.

Big Al Kids & Motorsports has been working on a project to build Christopher a quarter midget with hand controls.

“He’s a little boy who wants to race so bad,” Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation Founder Al Tschider said. “He’s been persistent with his doctors. We have received some help from Elk Grove Ford and Shifty Illusions for safety equipment, but we need sponsors to come on board to finish this project.”

Matt Wood, Cole Wood and Elk Grove Ford donated a head and neck restraint as well as a helmet, which was customized by Brady Lambert at Shifty Illusions. The helmet had four elements – the Seattle Seahawks logo, the Space Needle, a bible verse and a picture of a sprint car doing a slide job – that Christopher wanted.

The youngster was also able to recently meet Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who autographed the helmet.

“Racing is such a boost for his moral,” Amy Lindor said. “He really loves managing his Twitter account and he tweets to the race car drivers every week. When they tweet back and forth with him he just loves it.”

Christopher also visited a quarter midget track in Monroe, Wash., which is a little more than an hour from his hometown of Anacortes, earlier this year.

“They gave him the checkered flag and let him take a lap around it in his power chair,” Amy Lindor said.

Christopher has shown the desire and the heart to race. He just needs a little more financial support from the racing community. To find out details on how you can help, please email budwell74@msn.com.
