Inside Line Promotions – BURLISON, Tenn. (June 11, 2014) – Brandon Hanks is set to tackle the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup Speedweek, which begins this Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Hanks made his first career trip to the half-mile oval located in Mesquite, Texas, with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour in March, when he was credited with a 17th-place result after being unable to finish the main event.

“The last time I was there Jason Johnson said it was the fastest the track had been since the 1980s,” he said. “So that was a one-time deal I guess. I learned a lot though. I’m hoping that it’ll be slicker this time. We usually run better when it’s slicker.”

Hanks said his goal is to advance into the feature and go after a top-10 finish.

“Devil’s Bowl is an eye opener,” he said. “It feels faster than Knoxville. Tony Bruce Jr. told me to hold it wide open in turns three and four and in turns one and two to set on the bottom. That place is very unique. I couldn’t apply much from other tracks I’ve raced at. It’s like learning how to drive all over again.”

Following the race this Saturday, Hanks will return home to Tennessee for a couple of days before the final four races of the ASCS Speedweek, which resumes Wednesday, June 18, at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., before events on Thursday, June 19, at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; on Friday, June 20, at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Wainwright, Okla.; and on Saturday, June 21, at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

“Really I like it better than waiting a week,” Hanks said. “I look at it as being constantly focused. I’m constantly in the car and in that rhythm. It’s easier than going one weekend then another.”

“It’s a family business so I need to thank my dad, Brad Jones, Ricky Huffman and my granddad,” Hanks said. “We all work on the farm together. Without them not only would we not be able to race, but we couldn’t make a living.”

Hanks would also like to thank Performance Powder Coating, RE Enterprises, J&J Auto Racing, Hinchman Racewear, Walls Paint and Body Shop, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, Blue City Neon Graphics and Wesmar Racing Engines for their continued support.
