Inside Line Promotions – FARMINGTON, Mo. (May 21, 2014) – Derek Hagar was under powered when he made his season debut in the 410 division last Saturday at St. Francois County Raceway.

After the Hooker Hood Classic was postponed because of rain, Hagar hauled his 360ci sprint car to the 3/8-mile track in Missouri, where he rallied for an eighth-place result to earn his ninth top 10 in 10 races this season.

“It was fairly decent for the amount of horsepower we were down,” he said. “We were also behind the eight ball because the track was heavy and fast.”

In heat race action, Hagar maneuvered from his sixth starting position to a fourth-place result to lock himself into the main event.

“We kind of struggled at the beginning of the feature,” he said. “Then the track came to us a little bit. I started moving the wing a little and moving our line.”

After starting the feature on the outside of the eighth row, Hagar rallied for the top 10.

“I can’t remember how many cautions we had, but it seemed like every caution we picked off two or three cars,” he said. “I could roll around them in the middle. It’s a good momentum keeper running in the top 10 against the 410s in a 360.”

Hagar will kick off the USCS Speedweek this Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss. On Sunday, he will compete at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., before Monday’s race at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tenn.

Teams will have next Tuesday and Wednesday off before the second half of the Speedweek resumes on Thursday.
