Mallett Captures Win in First Race Since Being Sidelined for Several Weeks

Inside Line Promotions – HATTIESBURG, Miss. (Aug. 3, 2026) – Jordon Mallett bounced back in a big way last Saturday at Hattiesburg Speedway, where he was victorious during his return from a concussion.

“We picked right back up where we left off,” he said. “I’m glad to be back in the race car and super happy we continued moving that needle forward.”

Mallett, who drives for A.G. Rains, was off for approximately a month following a rough crash. He intended to resume competition on Friday during the opening night of a USCS Series doubleheader at the dirt oval, but the weekend’s event was shortened to one night following a rainout.

Mallett kicked off Saturday’s show by hustling from sixth to second place in a heat race. A sixth-place finish in the dash lined him up on the outside of the third row in the main event.

“I felt like we hadn’t missed a beat and hadn’t been off for a few weeks,” he said. “We unloaded the same hot rod we’ve unloaded most nights this year. A.G. got me really comfortable and we felt good in the heat race. The track was super narrow and super hard to pass, but we had such a good race car I could maneuver anywhere I needed to go. In the dash, we started on the inside and that line didn’t take off very good. We felt good enough to try some stuff in the dash so I tried to gauge the cars in front of me while running in the non-dominant line to see how good we were it. I used it mostly as a test session.

“In the feature, we started on the outside and the car was so balanced from the drop of the green flag. We got into third within the first lap. I slowed myself down inside the race car. It’s always a good feeling when you’re telling yourself to slow down because you have such a good race car and maneuverability. I made sure every move was super calculated. We got ourselves into second around six laps in. I chased the leader for seven or eight laps, just watching what they were doing. I knew early on I wanted to get to the lead to set the pace of the race. I hadn’t been able to lead any laps all year. We were in the lead by halfway and then set a moderate pace and made smart moves in traffic.”

The charge from sixth to Victory Lane also earned Mallett the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

The victory extended his winning streak to three straight seasons and five of the last six years.

Mallett plans to compete this Friday at Penton Raceway in Penton, Ala., and Saturday at Senioa Raceway in Senioa, Ga., with the USCS Series. He was victorious at Penton Raceway in August 2017 and finished second in September 2018 during his most recent appearance at Senoia Raceway.
