Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 20, 2026) – David Gravel’s bank account grew a lot larger on Saturday night as he led the distance to capture the $300,000-to-win BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals at Huset’s Speedway.

The post-race celebration showcased a wheelie down the frontstretch, a myriad of hugs as he climbed from his BillionAuto.com sponsored sprint car and a joyful wing dance with his son, Levi, in front of a boisterous crowd – the largest at Huset’s Speedway since Tod Quiring purchased the track in 2020.

“I’m going to have to pay some quarterly taxes, that’s for sure,” he quipped. “I’ve got to thank Tod Quiring. He puts so much money into this sport. What a night. What a rebound from the week. I felt like nothing was easy for us this week. Everybody was kinda frustrated. We literally tried a different setup every time we hit the race track and kept working at it. Cody (Jacobs) found something that worked out really, really good.”

Gravel led all 40 laps during the 5th annual BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals, which paid the most money to a feature winner in World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series history. The strong performance marked his second event title in the last four years.

Gravel entered traffic on Lap 6 and built more than a three-second lead before the first of three stoppages near the midpoint of the race. A caution on Lap 21 was followed by another caution on the restart. The final stoppage occurred on Lap 25 when a red flag was displayed after two drivers got upside down in front of Gravel entering turn one.

By that point, Gravel was committed to the top of the high-banked oval after spending most of the first half of the race riding the bottom lane. Once the race restarted, Gravel held the point and strategically navigated traffic in the closing laps to win by 0.935 seconds.

“So crazy what one caution can do,” he said. “The bottom was so dominant and once that caution came I just lost all my grip. Moved to the top slowly. With like nine (laps) to go I felt it taking just a touch of rubber.

“I love the people booing because I’ve still got a lot longer to be here so get used to it. I love the haters. I love the fans. If you don’t like me, then sorry to you.”

Since Gravel is a full-time World of Outlaws competitor, the $100,000 High Bank Bounty was not claimed this year.

Tyler Courtney was the Hard Charger Award winner after maneuvering from eighth to second place.

“From Wednesday to now, we’ve made a lot of changes to the car,” he said. “I felt we were pretty good until the rubber came there. Hats off to David and Tod and their whole team. Thanks to Tod and everyone here at Huset’s, Doug Johnson, for putting up the money they did this week. Second stings when it was a possible $400,000, but it’s still a great night for us.”

Donny Schatz rounded out the podium.

“David set a pretty torrid pace, but I had a hell of a time getting through traffic early,” he said. “We had a shot at trying to win one of the biggest paydays ever and we ran third. David did a good job. Tyler did a good job. I needed to do a little better job, but I think I’ll get another opportunity.”

Giovanni Scelzi finished fourth and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid, who captured the previous two BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals titles, advanced from 11th to fifth place.

The heat races were won by Sheldon Haudenschild, Schatz, Gravel, Logan Schuchart, Bill Balog and Scelzi. Sam Henderson claimed the C Main. Gravel topped the King of the Hill, which provided a $1,000 bonus courtesy of Unique Movers. Emerson Axsom was the Last Chance Showdown winner.

Additionally, it was announced during Opening Ceremonies on Saturday that the Huset’s High Bank Nationals will return next season with the event moving to the final weekend in June. Four-day tickets for the event, which runs June 23-26, 2027, can be purchased via the Huset’s Speedway website.

Huset’s Speedway will be dormant the next two weekends before resuming competition on July 12 for Frankman Motor Company presents Hall of Fame Night. The Cressman Sanitation Midwest 410 Sprint Touring Series and Cressman Sanitation 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars, the Nordstrom’s Automotive Late Model Street Stocks, and the MedStar Midwest Sprint Touring Series RaceSavers and the Heser Auto & Detailing RaceSaver Sprint Car Series will all be in action.
