Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 18, 2026) – Michael “Buddy” Kofoid reached rare air on Thursday at Huset’s Speedway, where he led all 40 laps to conquer the $150,000-to-win Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle.
It marked Kofoid’s fifth consecutive World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series triumph at the track, which is the longest winning streak of any driver in the storied history of the World of Outlaws at the high-banked oval.
Additionally, Kofoid has now won the last four six-figure paydays at Huset’s Speedway.
“A good week for me so far,” he said. “I’m at a loss for words.
“I love coming to Huset’s. Tomorrow we start all over again and hopefully chase after $300.”
Thursday presented the first big payday of the week at Huset’s Speedway with the next two days showcasing the $300,000-to-win BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals.
A pair of cautions within the first 11 laps were the only stoppages with the final 30 laps running non-stop during the main event on Thursday. Kofoid entered traffic on Lap 18. Sheldon Haudenschild, who advanced into the runner-up position on Lap 7, closed within several car lengths multiple times throughout the race. However, Kofoid responded each time to maintain the top spot before closing with a 0.550 margin of victory.
“Traffic was so hard,” he said. “You go to slide a guy, but the middle was so slick and the top, for how slick it was to the top and how far around it was, you carry so much speed so it’s hard to complete that slider. There was a couple of times I didn’t get across quick enough. It’s so hard to know where you need to be or what you need to do or how much effort to give it. Forty laps is a long race for here, but it goes by quick at the same time.”
Haudenschild placed second for the second straight night.
“I think our car was right there with him,” he said. “It’s just how it played out. He’s got this place wired. I feel I have it down pretty good. The lappers were really hard tonight. I had a really good restart and got in position. I got to lapped traffic and I feel like I did pretty good. It was just hard to throw sliders and have grip off (turn) four, it was so slick right there. We’ll keep plugging away here. Good thing we got another couple days to try for $300 grand on Saturday.”
Ryan Timms came out on top of a spirited battle for the final spot on the podium.
“First off, we had a phenomenal race track tonight,” he said. “It was a really racy track tonight. It was a great race. I feel like maybe I left a little bit out there. Those guys up front did a great job of maintaining. I’m really happy with our run tonight. It’s a good feeling for sure. Hopefully we can bring this momentum onto tomorrow.”
Garet Williamson placed fourth and Daison Pursley finished fifth.
Kofoid, Haudenschild, Pursley, Austin McCarl, Christopher Thram and Timms were the heat race winners. Dominic Dobesh captured the C Main. Kofoid was victorious during the $1,000-to-win Unique Movers King of the Hill and Tyler Courtney picked up the Last Chance Showdown triumph.
The action resets on Friday for the preliminary night of the 5th annual BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals, which culminates on Saturday with a $300,000-to-win main event. The main gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 7 p.m. on Friday.
