Inside Line Promotions – GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 2, 2026) – David Gravel guided Big Game Motorsports to a runner-up result last Friday done the lone World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series race of the weekend.
Gravel was efficient all night, setting quick time during qualifying before placing second in a heat race, the dash and the main event for his 14th podium performance of the season.
“It was a great night overall,” he said. “We had a car capable of winning and we led a lot of laps, but we just came up a little short. I got a little complacent in traffic. It’s such an aggressive track and it requires you to be on kill every single lap. I passed the same lapped car three times and he passed me back three times. That really slowed down my pace and was the defining moment for me.
“I was bummed I didn’t win. You want to win these races. They’re hard to win. But it was a good night for our team. As long as we have chances to win races, it’s hard to complain.”
Sunday’s event at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D., rained out.
Gravel currently leads the World of Outlaws championship standings by 114 points.
This weekend features a tripleheader with races on Friday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Mich., for the Pure Michigan Showdown; on Saturday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the Cheese Town Showdown; and on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., for the Ted Johnson Memorial Race.
“We haven’t been to Hartford in a long time,” said Gravel, who was victorious at the track in 2017 and in 2019 during the two most recent World of Outlaws races. “Obviously it’s a track that’s been good to me, but it’s been a long time since we’ve raced there.”
Gravel finished 22nd at Plymouth Dirt Track last year.
“I’m looking for some redemption at Plymouth,” he said. “We didn’t qualify the greatest and DNFed in the feature so hopefully we can have a good rebound.”
Gravel set a new track record and placed third in the feature last year at Angell Park Speedway.
“The last time we were there it was late in the year and it was cold,” he said. “I believe we broke the track record and had a great car until the feature when we just kind of missed it a little bit.”
Also of note, Gravel has advanced into the World of Outlaws dash 21 times through the first 25 races this season. He has an average dash draw (counting the shows that only have a six-car dash) of 4.76. Gravel has drawn the front row four times and has drawn the last row seven times. The number he has pulled the most is a tie between the No. 3 and No. 8 – four times each. He’s drawn the No. 6 three times and every other number twice.
