Inside Line Promotions – BURLINGTON, Wash. (June 1, 2026) – Trey Starks produced a pair of top fives last Saturday at Skagit Speedway to push his top-five streak to 10 in a row to start the season.
Starks set quick time in both the 410ci winged sprint car and 360ci winged sprint car divisions. He placed third in the 410 heat race and second in the 360 heat race to make the feature redraw. Unfortunately, he drew the largest number – six – both times. That marked the fifth straight race and seventh time in his last eight races at Skagit Speedway that Starks has started the feature on the third row.
“We’ve just been getting killed by the draw,” he said. “No excuses, but it’s really, really difficult with how good the cars are that end up in the top six every night. You can’t try to beat them from sixth every night. Every time we have to start from that third row we spend all race trying to get to the top three and by the time we get there the race is over. It’s the luck of the draw and nothing we can do about it, but it’s tough to do it from back there with that caliber of cars in front of you.”
Starks powered from sixth to second place in the 410 main event.
“We got to fourth fairly quickly and then got a couple restarts that we needed,” he said. “We had a restart around midway and I got into third. We had another restart a few laps later and I got into second. I set my sights on chasing down the leader and waiting to get into traffic. We got close while he was fighting through traffic, but I ran out of laps.”
The strong night moved him into the lead in the 410 championship standings by 18 points.
Starks advanced from sixth to fourth place in the 360 main event.
“It took three starts and an open red before we got a lap in,” he said. “On the one start that went through, we only got into fifth. I passed for fourth about four laps in. After that, the race went green the rest of the way, which is not what we needed. The track was pretty fast around the top so it was get in line and see if guys would make mistakes. They didn’t so we didn’t have much opportunity to move forward.”
Starks holds a 44-point advantage in the 360 championship standings.
He will return to Skagit Speedway this Saturday for a 410 race.
