Mark Burch Motorsports and Lasoski Execute a Perfect 3-for-3 Weekend

9/11/2013

Inside Line Promotions - EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 10, 2013) - For the first time since 1996, Mark Burch Motorsports pieced together a perfect 3-for-3 weekend.

Car owner Mark Burch and driver Danny Lasoski combined to sweep the Midwest Open Wheel Association doubleheader at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday before capitalizing on a green-white-checkered opportunity on Sunday at Eagle Raceway.

It started on the right foot when Lasoski set quick time in qualifying on Friday at 34 Raceway. He finished third in his heat race to advance to the dash, which he started second after drawing the No. 2 pill.

"We had luck on our side," he said. "Luck was everything for position. We had to do our job on the track as well. They have to go hand in hand."

After placing second in the dash, Lasoski jumped to the early lead during the feature.

"The first night was really good," he said. "You had a top and a bottom. If your car was good you could go any place you wanted to go. I got the lead on the top and stayed in the lead. I got through lapped traffic pretty well."

Lasoski surrendered the lead in traffic for a brief moment to nephew Brian Brown.

"Brian slid me once and I got back by him," Lasoski said. "When you're leading a race you're at their mercy. You try to choose and be aggressive without running over somebody. He went where I wasn't, but I got right back by him. He only led it for a corner."

Lasoski carried the momentum from the victory into Saturday night at 34 Raceway, where he qualified fifth quickest and won his heat race to lock the Mark Burch Motorsports entry into the dash.

"The second night we went out and the driver didn't do his job qualifying," he said. "In hindsight it helped us."

Fast qualifier Terry McCarl drew the No. 6 pill, which inverted the six fastest qualifiers and placed Lasoski on the outside of the front row for the dash. Lasoski picked up the dash win to earn the pole for the 34-lap feature, which went green to checkered without a caution.

"I didn't see anybody from the time they dropped the green," he said. "When I came in they told me the next car I was going to lap was fifth place. Any time you can get one victory that creates momentum. We were lucky to get two."

The team earned a $1,034 bonus for sweeping the weekend, which was capped on Sunday with the Nebraska Cup at Eagle Raceway.

Lasoski advanced from third to win his heat race, which earned him enough points into the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 4 in the random draw to start on the outside of the second row.

"It was an exciting race," he said. "We started fourth and immediately I got to second. We knew (Jack) Dover wasn't going to leave the top. I didn't even challenge for the first 10 or 15 laps. I noticed my car got so tight I couldn't turn the corner. The next thing I know Jason Johnson slid me. I could run with them, but couldn't gain on them."

Lasoski maintained a top-three position for the entire race and took advantage of a late caution, when he noticed the top wing had slid all the way back. He moved it forward prior to the green-white-checkered finish and capitalized.

"When they dropped the green flag it was a completely different race car," he said. "In turn one I slid across the middle and I passed him on the outside of (turns) three and four."

Lasoski took the lead coming to the white flag and pulled away to the $5,000 victory. It marked the sweep for the weekend with three wins and gave Mark Burch Motorsports its sixth triumph of the season.

The team is scheduled to compete with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series on Friday at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, and on Saturday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.
