Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 23, 2025) – Kaleb Johnson’s week at Huset’s Speedway was up and down with a solid showing during the Huset’s Hustle followed by a frustrating outing throughout the final two nights of the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by Menards.

“The first two nights were pretty encouraging and the last two nights were disappointing, but that’s racing,” the Team DGRD driver said.

Johnson was third quickest in his group to kick off the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series action on Wednesday during the Huset’s Hustle preliminary night. He finished where he started – sixth – in a heat race before rallying from seventh to third place in the Last Chance Showdown. The night concluded with a 21st-place finish in the main event.

“It was good to show speed early,” he said. “We knew it’d be tough in the heat race. Not going anywhere set us back, but we showed speed in the Last Chance Showdown. We were able to transfer and make the show. Unfortunately, we got into an incident on Lap 1 and it messed up the nose wing. I was holding on from that point on.”

Johnson was battling for a lock-in position into the feature during the heat race on Thursday when he was caught up in an incident, spinning him sideways. He restarted at the back and worked up to fifth place before the checkered flag was waved. Once again, Johnson was strong in the Last Chance Showdown as he maneuvered from 11th to sixth. He gained four positions in the A Main to place 20th.

“I thought the race track was awesome,” he said. “We had a shot to transfer through the heat, but some circumstances didn’t go our way. We were able to make it back to fifth. Then I was able to pick my way through the Last Chance Showdown and get the last transfer. In the feature, my goal was to not get lapped and work forward. We did that until the very end. It was good to show speed against that talented field.”

Johnson moved forward almost every time he was on the track throughout the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by Menards races on Friday and Saturday, but qualifying 24th in his group on Friday buried him.

“We had a plan to go out and rip the bottom in qualifying and it wasn’t the right move,” he said. “Plus, we were too tight and that set us back for the next two nights. It hurt us in points for Saturday and the track was difficult to move forward on.”

Johnson advanced from eighth to sixth place in a heat race, won the C Main and charged from 21st to 10th in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday. On Saturday, he placed seventh in a heat race before maneuvering from third to second place in the C Main and from 20th to 19th in the Last Chance Showdown.

Johnson plans to race this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where he has produced five top 10s this season. He ranks ninth in the track’s championship standings despite missing a race.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “We had some speed the last time we were there. Hopefully we can lay down a good qualifying lap to set us up for the rest of the night.”
