Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (April 8, 2025) – Derek Hagar is hoping he is able to compete this weekend with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Hagar has planned to tackle the Federated Auto Parts Spring Classic on Friday and Saturday at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in Pevely, Mo., in Paul Hart’s No. 44 sprint car. Unfortunately, severe weather in his region last Wednesday through Saturday flooded his business with 13 inches.

“We weren’t able to get in there until yesterday,” he said. “We don’t know the extent of the damage yet and still have a lot of clean up to do just to be able to work. We have some projects at work that are a priority, but it’s also a balance because we have racing commitments as well. It might be a decision whether we can race made on Friday morning.”

Hagar doesn’t have a ton of laps at the high-banked oval that is located approximately three and a half hours north.

“We’ve had some good and some bad laps there, but not a lot of laps,” he said. “Last year we didn’t make the show either night, but we’ve made it before. I was there in 2012 in a 360. We didn’t qualify well and ran from the back of the B Main to second to transfer to the feature. We pushed out for the feature and it rained out.

“It’s one of those race tracks where it’s hard to learn and it’s quick so you have to be on your toes. The top takes precision. You have to hit the mark just right every lap. A little too hard and the car pushes and you’re in the fence. Whenever you can hit the bottom it makes you look like a hero. It takes being able to run the top and bottom to pass cars. And qualifying, which has been our biggest struggle, is so key there.”
