Inside Line Promotions - BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 19, 2013) - Joey Saldana is really looking forward to returning to Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, June 29, for the 4th annual Jim "JB" Boyd Memorial.
Saldana holds the series lead with three World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victories at the third-mile oval, including the first two memorial races for Jim "JB" Boyd.
"It was pretty neat that we got to win his race for his dad," Saldana said of SLS Promotions Co-Founder Scott Boyd, whose father is the namesake of the event. "That race in particular and going back to back was pretty special to win."
Saldana struggled to a 14th-place finish last year when Kraig Kinser became the 12th different driver to garner a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature win at Beaver Dam Raceway.
After switching to a new team in the offseason, Saldana is winless this season and is looking to become the first four-time winner at the third-mile track.
"It's a cool track," he said. "Larry (Hillerud) always seems to prepare it well. They always try to give you a good surface to race on. I enjoy racing it. They get a lot of good fans there."
In addition to Saldana, current championship points leader Daryn Pittman also has a series-best three victories at Beaver Dam Raceway.
Steve Kinser, Jac Haudenschild and Dave Blaney each won twice with Danny Lasoski, Jason Solwold, Craig Dollansky, Tim Shaffer, Donny Schatz and Mark Kinser all scoring a single victory.
