Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (May 13, 2013) - A wet weekend is usually a boring weekend for a racer.
After his only scheduled event was rained out last weekend, John Binz was forced to find entertainment elsewhere.
"I went to my buddy's graduation," he said. "Pretty much just an easy, hang out weekend."
Binz's micro sprint race at Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie, Texas, was rained out on Friday morning. Now his attention shifts to Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, for a winged showdown this Friday.
"We've been fast every time we've been there," he said. "Last time we were there it was a pretty racy little place."
Earlier this season, Binz drove from third to second and from second to first in his two heat races to earn a front-row starting position for the feature. After battling for the lead for most of the event, he tied a career best with a third-place finish.
"I'm learning every time I get more laps and I feel like I'm getting closer to my first win," Binz said. "Hopefully it'll come this weekend."
