Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (June 7, 2022) – Joey Amantea was in contention for a career-best outing at Williams Grove Speedway last Friday before his night ended early.

Amantea advanced from sixth to third place in a Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars Series heat race to garner the fifth starting position in the Bill Gallagher Memorial main event.

“We were decent in hot laps and moved forward in the heat race,” he said. “Come feature-time we fell to sixth on the start with the track being top dominant. I made my way up to third and was tracking down second. We were really fast and I felt we had a winning car. We threw a slider for second and the caution came out. On the restart it was good through turns one and two, but the second-place car unexpectedly went to the top. I checked up and hopped the curb, which cost us three spots. On the next lap a car behind us ran into us going into turn three. I ended up landing in the grass and then flipped back onto the guardrail. It completely destroyed the race car.”

The contact on the track resulted in a violent flip for Amantea, who was credited with a 15th-place result.

It also forced him to miss the series race on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. Amantea continues to sit fourth in the championship standings.

A pair of micro sprint races on Wednesday and Sunday at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., fill this week’s schedule.

“It’ll be good to get back to Action Track USA, where we rained out last week,” Amantea said. “Hopefully we can compete for a win there again like the last time.”
