Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Nov. 18, 2025) – The 2025 racing season was a magical one for Big Game Motorsports and David Gravel.
The combination produced a second straight World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship, making Gravel only the sixth driver to ever win back-to-back titles with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ in its storied history.
“I feel like it was a really successful season,” he said. “I wanted to defend the title and was able to do that. Our consistency was awesome with the guys bringing a fast race car every night. I think that was our biggest achievement. It’s pretty remarkable what we were able to do. We had high hopes.
“I think we were expected to win. It’s not easy. Everybody is gunning for you. Just because you are expected to win doesn’t mean it’s an easy task. We put our heads down and worried about ourselves and did our jobs night in and night out.”
Gravel led the World of Outlaws in feature triumphs with 17 official victories. He added another trip to Victory Lane during a race with a split field for 18 total wins.
Among the triumphs were several big moments, including the $83,000-to-win Dennis Roth Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., and the Hard Knox Night during the Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. In total, the team was victorious in Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, New York, New Mexico, California, Indiana, North Carolina and Ontario, Canada.
“I don’t know if there’s one that sticks out other than Tulare, winning in that fashion and being our biggest win of our season,” he said. “Truly what sticks out the most to me is the struggles we had for the big events, especially the Kings Royal week and Knoxville Nationals week. I think we had very good finishes on the week; we just had to dig deep and really work for it. I’m proud of those weeks.”
Gravel charged from 19th to fifth place during the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, and from 21st to third during the Knoxville Nationals. He also placed sixth during both the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., and the J & S Classics National Open at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Additionally, Gravel topped the World of Outlaws in podium finishes, top fives and top 10s as well as feature laps led, quick time awards, heat race wins and dash appearances. According to stats from the World of Outlaws, Gravel’s average finish of 4.13 is the best for a champion since 2018.
“Very cool and definitely proud of it,” he said. “I’m bummed about crashing on the final race of the year because I think that could have got our average finish under four if we had finished on the podium. It was a great season and something that was hard to do. You look at the record books and it’s something that doesn’t happen very often.”
Also of note, Gravel was awarded Social Ambassador of the Year and Big Game Motorsports’ engine builder – Morrison Racing Engines – garnered the Engine Builder of the Year Award for the second straight season at the World of Outlaws banquet.
The team plans to return to World of Outlaws competition in 2026.
