Inside Line Promotions – BURLINGTON, Wash. (July 27, 2026) – Trey Starks earned a podium finish during the Fred Brownfield 360 Nationals finale at Skagit Speedway for the third season in a row and for the fourth time in the last five years last Saturday.

“We were in position, but just didn’t get the job done,” he said. “We had our fair share of issues on our prelim night, but we were still in position. Considering everything that happened during the weekend, I feel good about what we salvaged. But I also feel like we could have put ourselves in a better position to win and we just weren’t 100 percent.”

Starks opened the marquee event on Friday by qualifying second quickest in his group.

“We had good speed and were second quick in our group,” he said. “Then we went sixth to third in the heat race so that gave us good points. It put us fourth in points going into the feature, starting 13th.

“We fired off really good and I moved through the pack way quicker than I expected. We had a caution about 10 or 12 laps in and we were up to fourth. We fired off on the restart and there was a fair amount of grease on the bottom. I entered a little higher because the car in front of me went to the bottom. He got into the grease and shot straight up the track. We made contact and I ended up getting tagged by another car coming through. It bent a bunch of guys’ stuff up and banged our stuff up pretty good. We went into the work area and the damage was bad enough we weren’t going to try to go back out, but we know how these events go and every point is so important. We decided to go back out with significant damage on the right front to salvage what we could. We restarted at the back and passed some cars and survived. When the dust settled we were eighth, which put us second in points.”

The long night continued as the team was forced to build a new car for Saturday’s finale.

“We had to build a second car for the final night as that car was toast,” Starks said. “We had a long night and an early morning. We felt pretty good in hot laps and went out for the pole shuffle and I just didn’t get a good start. We probably let that mess with us more than just saying we had a bad start. We tuned on some things more than we should have. We started third in the feature and didn’t fire off well. We fell back as far as eighth. It took about 15 laps to get the car in the right direction. Once we did we were moving forward, but ran out of time.”

Starks rallied during the second half of the race for a third-place result, which was his 14th podium performance of the season.

He now leads the 360 championship standings at Skagit Speedway by 127 points.

Starks will return to the high-banked oval this Saturday for a 410 division race. He’s also atop that division’s championship standings, leading by 21 points.
