Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (April 27, 2015) – Jason Sides is on the move through the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings.

Sides capitalized on his sixth top five of the season with the premier sprint car series last Saturday during the Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway to advance into seventh in overall points.

“It was really good,” he said. “To go there and run top five with that caliber of cars is always a confidence boost.”

Sides kicked off the event, which lost Friday’s opening round because of rain, by qualifying seventh quickest on the fast half-mile oval. That lined him up on the outside of the front row of a heat race, which advanced the winner into the dash.

“Off of turn four the track was good inside and out,” he said. “Whoever got to the turn one corner first had the preferred line. That’s everything. If you can win the heat race you can put yourself in the dash and know you’ll start in a good spot for the feature.”

Sides did just that as he led the distance to pick up his third World of Outlaws heat race win of the season. He then advanced from sixth to fourth place in the dash to line up on the outside of the second row for the $20,000-to-win main event.

“We struggled a little bit early with a full fuel load,” he said. “Everybody was on the bottom and I moved to the top. I ran behind Logan (Schuchart) for about 10 to 12 laps. Then I got some momentum going and passed him. I couldn’t see Shane (Stewart) and Donny (Schatz) for a while, but when I went to the top I caught up enough to see them. However, doing that was wearing the tires out pretty bad.”

Sides maintained third place for most of the second half of the race before his missed his marks once in the closing laps, which cost him a position. His fourth-place result marked the fourth top five in the last six World of Outlaws races for Sides, who will return to action this weekend with a World of Outlaws tripleheader – Friday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla.; Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., for the Spring Classic; and Sunday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.
