Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 30, 2025) – Kaleb Johnson rebounded from a tough start to the night last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

The Team DGRD crew changed the engine after Johnson ended 28th in qualifying.

“It was quite the night to change the engine,” Johnson said. “It was hot and humid. After changing engines, I felt like we had power underneath me and it was all good from there. But when you qualify 28th, you’re stuck in a deep hole.”

Johnson advanced from seventh to fifth place in a heat race and he won the B Main after lining up fifth.

“After we changed engines we didn’t have a lot of time to work on the car,” he said. “I felt decent in the heat race and we were able to fine-tune from there. We made it better and better. We had good speed in the B Main. Starting behind 20 cars in the feature was going to be tough, but I felt we were rolling pretty decent.”

Johnson maneuvered from 21st to 12th in the main event. His nine positions gained were the second most.

“I was able to roll the bottom pretty well, but a lot of guys were on the bottom so I had to make the top work,” he said. “I got to 14th or 15th and a lot of guys right in front of me were on the top so I went back to the bottom and picked off a couple more.”

Johnson, who ranks ninth in the track’s championship standings, will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.

“I feel we ended the night decent on Saturday so hopefully we can transition that to the earlier part of the night this weekend and not have to be in such a big hole,” he said. “I think there will be a high car count so it’ll be a good test to see where we stack up.”
