Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (May 6, 2025) – Trey Starks garnered a third straight podium to start the season last Saturday at Skagit Speedway.

Starks set quick time during qualifying to kick off the racing program.

“It started out well,” he said. “We went out pretty late, but went quick time so it was good to know our qualifying time is there in our 360. Then we went fourth to third in the heat race. You don’t really gain anything unless you win the heat from fourth.

“I drew the No. 3 to start us third in the feature. On the initial start we got right into second and potentially challenging for the lead, but the caution came out and negated the start. On the start that stood, the outside row got a better jump and we fell to fourth. It took me a couple of laps to get to third. It took until around 10 laps to go to get into second. We had a restart with five laps to go and got a really good jump. We were challenging for the lead when another caution came out. We were close on a couple more late-race restarts, but couldn’t quite challenge for the lead. I tried to change things up and gambled a little. We were close, but the open track speed for the leader was good enough where I couldn’t challenge in open track.”

Starks’ runner-up result marked his third consecutive Saturday with a top-two finish.

“At the beginning and end of the year when the track has more moisture we struggle a little more,” he said. “We have some things to work on so we’ll put it in the notebook and see if we can learn.”

Starks will return to Skagit Speedway this Saturday when he will compete in both the 410ci winged sprint car and 360ci winged sprint car divisions. He is the current leader in the championship standings in both divisions.

“It’s definitely going to be busy,” he said. “If you have any issues in either car it slows things down so you have to be careful about getting too strung out between the cars. I’m excited from a driver’s standpoint. Winning two races in one night is a cool feat and it’s not often you get the opportunity to do that.”

Starks has won in two divisions on the same night at Skagit Speedway once each of the last two seasons.
