Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 5, 2025) – Kaleb Johnson earned his best result of the season last Saturday when he produced a sixth-place performance at Knoxville Raceway.

It marked the first top 10 of the season for the Team DGRD driver, who moved up to 10th in the championship standings at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

“It felt really good,” he said. “Even though we didn’t really time in where we needed, we had a good heat race and in the feature I felt 10 times better than I have. The comfortability was there and I feel we have something to build on. A lot of it is getting more races under our belts and getting the car how I like it.”

Johnson qualified 10th quickest before he advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race. That ranked him eighth in overall points to garner the eighth starting position in the main event.

“I got a good start and was good on the top and bottom the first 10 laps,” he said. “I was able to maneuver where the cars in front of me couldn’t. About halfway through the race it was just around the top as the bottom was used up. I felt we had a fifth-place car, but the timing of the red flag didn’t work out in my favor as I felt I was about to pass the two cars in front of me, but that happens. It was an overall good night and we were pleased with the result.”

It was Johnson’s best 410ci winged sprint car result at Knoxville Raceway since July 20, 2024.

A trio of races fills this week’s schedule for Johnson and Team DGRD with a Kubota High Limit Racing event on Wednesday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan. On Saturday, Johnson will return to Knoxville Raceway before tackling the season opener at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Sunday. He is the reigning 410ci winged sprint car track champion at Huset’s Speedway.

“Compared to the weeks previous, last Saturday gives me a lot of confidence,” he said. “The speed is definitely there going into three big races. It gives us a chance and we know we can contend. We just have to put the entire night together from qualifying on.”
